How Nails Reveal About Health.
Did you know that your nails can reveal a lot about your health and reflect overall health? Heart problems, vitamin deficiencies, liver problems, thyroid issues and a range of other health conditions can all be figured by just looking at your nails.
Dry, Cracked and Brittle Nails - These could be because of thyroid disease. But if they are also yellow in colour along with being cracked, it could be due to fungal infection.
Dark Lines Below The Nail Bed - This should be investigated as it is caused due to a serious form of skin cancer.
White Nails- If the nails are completely white, the liver could be affected. It could also mean hepatitis.
Red Nails - These could be due to an underlying heart condition.
Splitting and Flaking Nails- Essential fatty acids play a large role in healthy nails. Splitting and flaking of nails could be due to a lack of linolic acid.
Bluish Nails- The nails turn bluish when the body does not get enough oxygen, simply translated, lung problem or sometimes even heart related.
Pitted Nails- These could be because of psoriasis.
Pale Nails- These are most likely due to anemia.
Angular Blood Vessels in Nail Folds - Many patients having lupus have this condition.
White Spots On The Nail - This could be due to a trauma or even zinc deficiency.
Rounded or Curved Nails- This indicates insufficient Vitamin B 12 levels.
Not all red nails indicate heart problem, nor do all pitted nails mean psoriasis but if your nails are increasingly looking different, it is a good idea to show them to a qualified doctor. Nail the problem before the problem nails you.
