10 new cars at the Auto Expo
With the Auto Expo drawing to a close today, we take a look at 10 brands and the new models and variants which they showcased at the week-long event.
Honda
Honda unveiled its much awaited MPV, the BR-V. The car which is based on the Mobilio platform is expected to be launched soon.
Also making a comeback for Honda is its once-popular sedan, the Accord. A hybrid version of the Accord was on display at the Auto Expo.
Chevrolet
Chevrolet India showcased two new models at the Auto Expo. The first was its new compact sedan, the Essentia and a crossover concept, the Beat Activ.
Toyota
The Japanese carmaker showcased its impressive Innova Crysta along with the all-new Prius Hybrid. Both cars created quite a buzz at the Auto Expo. The second half of 2016 should see both these cars marauding on the Indian roads.
Tata Motors
For Tata it was an eventful Auto Expo. The Indian car-maker showcased Hexa, its new SUV which will be in direct competition with Mahindra’s XUV 500.
It also showcased the production version of its compact SUV, the Nexon. The other two models unveiled were the hatchback Zica and a compact sedan Kite 5.
Fiat
Fiat unveiled three new models – the Punto Pure, the Avventura Urban Cross and the Linea 125S. While Punto and Linea are upgraded variants of existing models, the Urban Cross makes its India debut.
BMW
BMW had its own share of beauties – including the new variants of X1 and 7-series – make their presence felt.
Jaguar
The only new car showcased by Jaguar was the stunning Jaguar XE.
Hyundai
The Korean car manufacturer showcased the new variant of its SUV, the Tuscon. The other models unveiled by Hyundai included the Sonata hybrid, Hyundai i30 and Hyundai Genesis.
Nissan
The superb Nissan GT-R was the highlight for Nissan. The car which is also known as the Godzilla will be available in India from September 2016.
A hybrid version of its SUV, the X-Trail was also showcased by Nissan. The other two cars unveiled were the Terrano T20 edition and the Micra T20 edition
Jeep
The two cars which drew a lot of curiosity and attention were Jeep’s iconic models — The Wrangler Unlimited and the Cherokee SRT. Both these cars were showcased for the first time in India and will make their debuts on Indian roads in second half of 2016.
