Eco-friendly cars at the Auto Expo
With India’s metropolitan cities reeling under severe pollution, automobile majors are getting environment-friendly with their cars. A few such cars are being showcased at the Auto Expo.
Mahindra E-Verito
As the name of the car hints, this is an electric version of the existing Verito. The e-Verito is powered by a 72V 3-phase AC induction motor which churns a maximum of 41hp rpm, torque of 3000 rpm. Being an electric car, it can’t reach high speeds, though Mahindra claims that the e-Verito’s top speed is 86 kmph.
Toyota Prius and Camry Hybrid
Japanese car-maker Toyota showcased the hybrid version of its cars – Prius and Camry. The new Prius is a hybrid which comes with petrol as well as an electric motor. The 1.8 litre petrol engine can generate 97.8 bhp and a max torque of 142NM. The electric motor, on the other hand, can produce 73 bhp of power. The Camry on the other hand has been available in the Indian market for the last one year or so.
Honda Accord Hybrid
Honda unveiled its popular sedan, Accord’s hybrid version at the Auto Expo. The Accord used to be an extremely popular car in India but in the last few years disappeared from the market. It looks like a comeback for the Accord is on the cards
Sonata Hybrid
It’s the sedans which are getting extremely eco-friendly. Another automobile giant, Hyundai showcased the hybrid version of the Sonata.
